TWI is one of the world's foremost independent research and technology organisations. With headquarters six miles south of Cambridge in the heart of South Cambridgeshire since 1946, and with facilities across the UK and around the world, the organisation has a long history of invention, innovation and knowledge transfer. TWI works across all industry sectors and has expertise in all aspects of manufacturing, fabrication and whole-life integrity management technologies.
TWI's services include consultancy, technical advice, research and investigation for Industrial Member companies and public funding bodies. The company’s mission is to create value and enhance quality of life for members and stakeholders through engineering, materials and joining technologies, in the process producing innovative work, delivered by scientists and engineers who are internationally recognised in their fields.
TWI and South Cambridgeshire
TWI remains at its original home in the grounds of Abington Hall in South Cambridgeshire. However it now occupies a prestige headquarters building, adjacent to the old hall, which was developed as a part of the creation of MEPC’s Granta Park.
An integral part of the Abingtons for many years, the organisation’s links are strong within the village and the surrounding communities. Many employees have settled in the area because of TWI’s welcoming countryside working environment.
“TWI is pleased to have made its contribution to the prosperity of this part of South Cambridgeshire. Our confidence in investment is testimony to our belief that it remains the perfect location from which to continue the company’s development in the 21st century.”
